When I began to teach Pluto this new ’song’ he was very angry - and he would race over to me and threaten to nip me. He didn’t want to learn any new songs because he wanted to sing the other songs. Eventually with lots of patience he finally decided he would listen and when he made any attempt to making a sound as I sung I would reward him with excitement and that’s how he finally decided to sing too! A lot of my teaching methods now reward any attempt to mimic what I am saying.
